Star Wars: Did you spot THIS huge star in Attack Of The Clones before she was famous?
STAR WARS: ATTACK OF THE CLONES is not exactly the best-remembered movie of the franchise, but as the prequels become more fondly looked upon, you may spot one big star in a tiny role.
Ewan McGregor says he WOULD return to Star Wars
There’s a moment in the movie when Padmé (Natalie Portman) talks to one of her handmaidens, Dormé, before setting off with Anakin (Hayden Christensen). If she looks at all familiar, it’s because she’s Rose Byrne; star of Bridesmaids, Damages, Spy and Bad Neighbours. Star Wars came shortly before her career truly began to go stratospheric.
The star spoke about it late last year in an interview with Uproxx - revealing that she’s not even a Star Wars fan.
“It was shot in Sydney, so they had to get a bunch of Australians in the cast,” she said.
“I think that’s why I got the part. ‘We better hire that girl!’
“I’m like one of the point zero one percent who is not a Star Wars fan.”
She added: “George [Lucas] was so cool. I had done little Aussie movies. He was really cool.
“Natalie [Portman] was great. It was a fun shoot. It was really cool.
“We kind of would hang out. Everyone was pretty young and Hayden [Christensen] was pretty nice.”
Other big names also pop up in those prequels, including Keira Knightley as Padme’s decoy Sabe in The Phantom Menace.
Dominic West also shows up as a guard in the same movie, while Sofia Coppola plays handmaiden Sache. And who could forget Celia Imrie as a fighter pilot?
The now super-famous Joel Edgerton is in there too: he had a supporting role as the young Uncle Owen in Revenge of the Sith.
In the latest sequel trilogy, cameos from big stars who are already famous are becoming increasingly common.
Daniel Craig was a stormtrooper in The Force Awakens, for example; while Prince Harry and Prince William were reported to have filmed similar parts for The Last Jedi - although they ostensibly ended up on the cutting room floor.
Meanwhile, also related to Attack of the Clones, an apparent continuity gaffe was recently spotted by fans on Reddit.
