Avengers Endgame: ‘MCU boss Kevin Feige looking for NEW Wolverine to replace Hugh Jackman’
AVENGERS ENDGAME producer and MCU boss Kevin Feige is hunting for a new Wolverine to replace Hugh Jackman, according to an X-Men producer.
Avengers Endgame: INTENSE Super Bowl trailer revealed
Back in 2017, Jackman bowed out as Wolverine in Logan – his ninth X-Men movie as the character. But later this year Fox – who own the rights to the X-Men – is being bought by Disney, who have Marvel Studios. So after this summer’s X-Men Dark Phoenix, the future of those characters will finally be among their fellow Avengers from the comics. But Jackman has denied reprising Wolverine and wants a new actor to take up the claws in the MCU, like Batman or James Bond.
When Logan was released, Jackman said: “The character will go on.
“Someone else will play it, for sure. [He insisted he was a peace with that].”
And pleas from Ryan Reynolds for him to play Wolverine in a Deadpool movie have come to no avail.
But now X-Men producer Shuler Donner has confirmed that Marvel Studios boss Feige is on the lookout for a new Wolverine.
Speaking with Slash Film, she said: “Yes. I don’t know what Kevin’s thinking honestly.
“I don’t even think Kevin knows. I think Kevin’s still dealing with this wealth of characters and trying to make sense of them.”
The producer also confirmed that all future X-Men decisions would indeed be up to Disney and Feige as head of Marvel Studios.
She said: “That would be between Fox and Disney.”
The producer added: “Obviously, Kevin and I started the first [X-Men movie]. He worked for me. He’s got a great story sense.
“He’s got a great ability to weave each world and weave those worlds together.
“I trust him and I trust that he will take care of the X-Men.”
While the X-Men are set to enter the MCU, fans shouldn’t expect them to feature in Avengers Endgame, since the Fox deal still hasn’t gone through and the movie is in the final stages of editing.
