Next James Bond: Bodyguard and Game of Thrones star Richard Madden odds SLASHED
BODYGUARD and Game of Thrones star Richard Madden has seen his odds to play James Bond after Daniel Craig slashed.
Trailer for new BBC drama Bodyguard starring Richard Madden
Last night the 32-year-old actor debuted in the BBC’s new drama Bodyguard.
Madden has certainly left James Bond fans shaken and stirred as out of nowhere he’s now 20/1 with a number of bookmakers to replace Craig as 007.
The sudden show of support for the star shouldn’t be that much of a surprise seeing as he’s around the right age to start playing Bond.
After all Craig was 36 when he starred in Casino Royale back in 2006.
But aside from his age Madden certainly looks the part to play Ian Fleming’s 007 with his rugged, dark and handsome looks.
As it stands the former Game of Thrones star is equal with Michael Fassbender and Cillian Murphy in his chances to take up the License to Kill next.
Of course there was a similar show of support for James Norton after he starred in BBC’s McMafia earlier this year.
The 33-year-old is at 11/2, just behind Idris Elba and Tom Hardy.
Elba caused rife speculation a couple of weeks ago when he posted on Twitter: “The name is Elba, Idris Elba.”
Meanwhile Craig’s final outing, currently only known as Bond 25, is having big production problems.
With shooting set to start on December 3, it was announced last week that director Danny Boyle had stepped down over creative differences.
Rumours are circling he left because Craig and he disagreed on casting for Bond 25’s villain, but also that the incumbent actor wanted his 007 to die.
With the film seemingly now in hiatus there’s every chance Craig could bow out of the project and make way for a new actor.
So perhaps Madden, Elba and co had better brush up on their Bond catchphrases.
Bond 25 is set for release in October 2019, but may get delayed.
