James Bond: Idris Elba reveals his CONCERN with 007 rumours he will replace Daniel Craig
JAMES BOND favourite Idris Elba revealed his concern about 007 rumours that he will replace Daniel Craig last year.
Idris Elba: James Bond casting rumours are ‘WILD’
The 45-year-old actor is the bookies favourite at 11/10 following a tweet he wrote week ago.
Elba said: “My name’s Elba, Idris Elba.”
The tongue-in-cheek post was a response to a recent claim that 007 producer Barbara Broccoli wants a non-white actor for James Bond after Craig.
However last October Elba revealed his concern about being a favourite to be the next 007.
He told the New York Times: “I think it's more about, we just want to have a black guy play James Bond rather than Idris Elba, the actor, play James Bond.
“That's the part that I'm like, 'Ugh, come on’.”
Meanwhile he told Variety: “There's no such thing as a 'black Bond'.
“Are we interested in having a Bond character other than being a male?”
Elba added: “Could be a woman – could be a black woman, could be a white woman.
“But I think, that character, everybody would like to see it have... do something different with it, why not?"
Yesterday the star of Elba’s directorial debut Yardie backed him to play Bond next.
Aml Ameen said: “I really hope [Idris Elba] is Bond. I think he deserves it.
“I think the country love him, the country’s behind him.
“He was at the royal wedding for God’s sake.
“Just hurry up and make him Bond. James Bond.”
