Victoria gets regal approval
PRINCESSES Beatrice and Eugenie added a spot of real life royalty at the premiere of a film about their great-great-great-great-grandmother in London last night.
The sisters mixed with the stars of The Young Victoria, including a glamorous Emily Blunt who plays the title role.
The film was the vision of the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, 49, who, as one of the producers, wanted to make a movie about Queen Victoria’s early years and ascension to the throne.
Beatrice even makes a fleeting non-speaking appearance as a lady-in-waiting to the monarch.
Other stars out in Leicester Square included Rupert Friend, who stars as the Queen’s husband Albert, and Jim Broad- bent and Miranda Richardson.
Dressed in a regal purple Vivienne Westwood dress, the Duchess of York said the film was the culmination of 15 years of dreaming. Speaking of Beatrice she said: “I’m so proud. Every day, I’m proud.”
The women stars fell victim to the lashing rain as the hems of their full-length gowns received a soaking as they walked up the purple carpet.
The film was written by Oscar-winner Julian Fellowes. Jim Broadbent stars as King William IV while Miranda Richardson plays the Duchess of Kent.
