Piven: 'Macy's perfect as my Broadway replacement'
Actor JEREMY PIVEN is convinced his mercury poisoning illness has given the Broadway play he was forced to quit a boost - because WILLIAM H. MACY is taking his place.
Piven came under fire for pulling out of his New York stage debut in David Mamet's Speed-The-Plow in December (08), but insists he was just following doctor's orders.
And he thinks his loss is Broadway's gain - because Fargo star Macy is replacing him.
Piven explains, "Broadway was my dream and the play is incredible. Bill Macy is going to replace me and he's a genius and actually an upgrade to me. He's been doing Mamet for 30 years."
