HALF a century after it was recorded, a long lost Beatles demo disc sent to Cilla Black has been rediscovered.

The late singer and presenter had a Top 10 hit with It's For You in 1964, which was produced by George Martin at Abbey Road Studios.
The song peaked at number seven in the charts but Paul McCartney had earlier that year recorded his own version on a 7-inch Dick James demo disc and wanted Cilla to listen to it.
The recording was delivered to the London Palladium where the Blind Date star was performing, but its whereabouts since then had been unclear and it was thought to have been destroyed.
However, the disc has since re-emerged after a relative of the Liverpudlian, who died last year, came across a brown envelope labelled It's For You.

They assumed that it was a copy of Cilla's hit and took it in with other items to be valued at The Beatles Shop in Liverpool.
Stephen Bailey, who has managed the store for 31 years, said: "We got to the last one [demo] and as soon as I heard it I thought, 'Oh God, that's not Cilla Black it's Paul McCartney'.
"I was shaking with excitement and speechless. I realised that this was the long lost Beatles demo disc from 1964 and I was probably one of the few people to have seen and heard it in over 50 years."
The disc will go on sale at the Beatles Memorabilia Auction
Cilla passed away on August 1, 2015
Stephen added: "I can't think of finding anything better unless I discover there is a sixth Beatle."
The disc will go on sale on August 27 at the Beatles Memorabilia Auction at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. It is estimated to fetch between £15,000 and £20,000.
