Rick Astley opted not to vote in the EU referendum
An excerpt from his interview with The Times, which is behind an online paywall, has been widely shared on Twitter and sees the legendary popstar seemingly saying that he didn’t cast his ballot because he didn’t think the result would affect him in any way.
“I didn’t feel I knew enough about it,” he said.
“I could probably have gathered enough information to have an informed vote, but I really couldn’t be a***d. My vote was not to vote.”
He added: “I felt it was the powers-that-be saying, ‘Here’s your chance, we live in a democracy’, but whether we remain or leave, for certain people nothing is going to change.

“If it all goes wrong, I’ll move to Italy.”
Responding to the extract on Twitter, one person wrote: “I'm speechless at this. What an absolute s**t for brains.”
“As long as he's comfortable, sod the rest of us,” said someone else.
