The actress' rep has since slammed the Italian entrepreneur's behaviour, claiming their smooch was "not consensual".
The 46-year-old was acting as auction host at the star-studded event, where Lapo, 38, is believed to have bid $196,000 to win the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show experience.
Uma, who was dressed in a eye-catching pink gown complete with red sequinned heart motif, was seen locking lips with the businessman inside the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
Her publicist Leslie Sloane told Express.co.uk tonight: "It is opportunism at its worst. She wasn't complicit in it."

"It looks like she was happy to have it happen, but it was not consensual."
As well as bidding on the evening, Lapo also donated his Ferrari 458 Camouflage in order to raise money for AIDS research.
