The Doobie Brothers' Patrick Simmons to ride for cancer charity
THE DOOBIE BROTHERS guitarist PATRICK SIMMONS is set to ride across country on his vintage motorcycle in support of charity Stand Up to Cancer.
Simmons will take part in the Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run 2014, which sets off from Daytona, Florida on 5 September (14).
The rocker and his wife Cris are riding to honour their son, Pat Jr., who successfully battled testicular cancer last year (13).
He says, "Cris and I are excited, and so ready to head out on the 2014 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run. We have been working on our bikes for over a year now."
This year's (14) Stand Up to Cancer telethon will take place next month in America, and will feature guests Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow, who is also producing the fundraiser.
