David Mitchell's secret row with wife Victoria as he says 'don't like to talk about it'

David and Victoria Coren Mitchell are a true power couple, but the Peep Show star admits they prefer to keep their personal life away from the spotlight.
The showbiz pair first crossed paths in 2007, but it wasn’t until three years later that they began dating seriously. They married in November 2012 in North London and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in May 2015, followed by the birth of their second child in October 2023.
However, in a recent interview with Radio Times, the 50-year-old actor candidly admits that he wouldn’t bring up their relationship unprompted. Mitchell went on to explain why he believes his happy marriage might not be something that needs to be shared with the world.
He said: “The thing about it is – in an interview people often ask about her [his wife]. And when I’m asked about her, I’m going to say that I love her and she’s amazing. But I wouldn’t have brought her up.

“And I don’t mean that disrespectfully. She’s often on my mind. At the same time, I think I have a very happy marriage to a wonderful person, but I don’t consider that to be of broader interest.”
Last year, Victoria, 52, revealed her second pregnancy in a hilarious way. On Halloween, she posted a picture of herself wearing a red cloak, prompting many to assume it was part of her costume. The next day, she cleared things up with a cheeky post on X, saying, “Not at all; last week I had a baby and nothing currently fits me except cloaks. Luckily, Only Connect is a pre-record. Happy All Saints Day!”
Recalling their first meeting at a film premiere, the TV host joked that she was prompted to approach the star because of a close friend: "He specifically said to me, 'There’s David Mitchell over there, I think you should probably marry him, I’ll get the ball rolling by introducing you.
"I thought that was ridiculous but, a couple of hours later, I thought I would probably marry him."
Mitchell later admitted to The Guardian that he felt the same way, and was willing to wait a long time to date the show host as she dealt with her father's death.
"I waited three years," he laughed. "Isn’t that weird? Aren’t I odd? I can’t explain it other than to say I couldn’t do anything else. If only I’d known I just had to wait three years…I would gladly have suffered 10 times as much."
