Former Coronation Street star Andrew Lancel denies sex charge
FORMER Coronation Street actor Andrew Lancel has denied sexually assaulting a teenage boy in the early nineties.
The 42-year-old soap star, who was arrested and charged under his real name Andrew Watkinson last November, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today.
Wearing a smart grey suit with a white shirt and a patterned tie, Lancel pleaded not guilty to six counts of indecent assault against one male victim.
The male claims that the assault took place between 1993 and 1994 - the year Lancel began his career with a role in the film 'Wide-Eyed and Legless.'
Lancel, who is best-known for playing Frank Foster in the iTV1 soap, was granted bail and will return to court on June 3 when his five-day trial will begin.
