John Hurt denies Doctor Who's become 'too sexual'
ACTOR John Hurt has defended Doctor Who saying that the programme should have kissing scenes.
I'd never begrudge a kiss, or a kissing scene
The 73-year-old's comments came after Waris Hussein, who directed the first ever episode of Doctor Who in 1963, said the TV show had become too sexual.
"I'm not sure about that," says Hurt. "I'd never begrudge a kiss, or a kissing scene."
The British actor told the Daily Telegraph that he is currently filming his on scenes for the special 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who, which will also star David Tennant and Billie Piper.
"I'm in the middle of filming, I start again at 9am tomorrow. it's brilliant and I am getting to work with David Tennant, who I have a lot of time for," Hurt explained.
However, 'The Elephant Man' star wouldn't disclose any details about his role in the upcoming episode, adding: "I'm sworn to secrecy about my character and my scenes."
Hurt, who has enjoyed a fantastic and lengthy career, had never thought of starring in the BBC series, but when the opportunity came up he says: "I knew what my answer would be."
