Up north's great says BBC Breakfast star Louise Minchin
BBC Breakfast star Louise Minchin says switching the show to Salford has transformed her life – for the better.
It is a year since the BBC sparked controversy among London-based staff with the move.
Mother-of-two Louise, 44, became a co-anchor after Sian Williams decided not to leave the capital. It meant she and husband David moving to Cheshire with their daughters aged 11 and 8. Louise said: “I couldn’t be happier with it.
“The job and the change of lifestyle have been perfect for me.
“We lived in a terraced house in London. Now we live in a village in the countryside, where we’ve had a warm welcome.
“Life is less stressful. London can be intense and noisy. People ask me do I miss London. I can honestly say I don’t.”
David owned a gastropub in London and plans to start something similar in the North. Even the show’s guests enjoy the new base. Louise said: “They say it’s more relaxed.”
