Colour photos of the Beatles on their first US tour sell for almost £30,000
COLOUR photographs of the Beatles on their first ever US tour have sold for double their expected price at an auction, it has been reported.
The collection of 65 slides were expected to fetch in between £10,000 and £15,000 at the auction in Stockport, Cheshire.
However, onlookers were left stunned when the colour photos were in fact purchased for £27,140.
The high price paid for the collection may be due to the fact that there aren’t actually that many colour photographs of the foursome during their first US tour in 1964.
Dr Robert Beck, a physicist and inventor who died over ten years ago, left behind the photographs, including shots of the band on stage and images from press events and industry parties.
