Worthington donates £35,000 to Australia's flood relief
AVATAR star SAM WORTHINGTON has donated £35,000 to the flood relief campaign in his native Australia, after bidding for the top lot at a Los Angeles gala auction on Saturday (22Jan11).
The actor was among the guests at the G'Day USA event, which honoured stars including Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb and actress Abbie Cornish.
The night also featured an auction, with a top prize of a luxury, all-expenses paid stay at an exclusive resort on Hamilton Island in Queensland.
Worthington, who grew up in Perth, was the winner of the lot after bidding a staggering £35,000, according to Australia's Associated Press.
Floods devastated towns across the states of Queensland and Victoria this month (Jan11) - thousands have fled their homes and at least 25 people are feared to have died.
