Inside Sting's health journey after 'doctor's orders' forced him to cancel shows

Sting cancelled his tour in 2019 after falling unwell and has since prioritised his well being by keeping fit.

Sting cancelled multiple European concert dates due to a mystery illness and announced the news on Twitter on Tuesday just hours after revealing he couldn't play his Munich concert under "doctor's orders".

Taking to social media at the time, the former The Police frontman apologised for "disappointing" any excited fans.

"It is with great regret that Sting's concerts previously scheduled for Thursday, Jul 11 at Jazzopen in Stuttgart, Germany and Friday, July 12 at the Castle Garden in Slavkov u Brna, Czech Republic will be cancelled," a statement on his Twitter read.

Despite not disclosing the his health condition, the star has mantained an impressive physique as of late with regular workouts and he continues to look youthful.

Sting gave fans an insight into his daily routine and showed off the secret to his flat stomach with his new exercise called a "perpetual crunch" on TikTok.

The Message In A Bottle hitmaker, 70, lay on his back tensing and stating, "Getting my tummy nice and hard," as he showed off his incredible fitness.

He urged his fans to take up the Sting perpetual crunch challenge, writing: "You can do it."

The star looked dapper in the video, clad in a black tee and jeans, and he couldn't resist asking his followers: "Do you like my boots?" as he performed what some suggested was a "tantric" routine.

One fan joked: "Sting letting us see him exercise with every breath he takes."

Sting has said before that vanity and a bit of discipline have kept him looking in shape over the years. He is known for practicing Ashtanga yoga.

The singer also stays in amazing shape thanks to his macrobiotic diet, which consists of many vegetables and grains. He aims to avoid toxins and processed food that contains preservatives.

The diet also centres around low consumption of meat, dairy and sugar.

Sting and his wife Trudie Styler moved their family to the Lake House Farm in Wiltshire in 1991, and adopted a self-sufficient diet, growing organic veggies ever since.

The singer's family own a flock of free range chickens, as well as their own trout lake and even bee hives for honey.

Sting, has also been outspoken regarding his battles with bipolar disorder. He’s also participated in events raising awareness about the disease.

Looking back at his time as frontman of the band Police, he noted, “I was suicidal. …I was manic-depressive and I just wasn’t chemically balanced enough.”
