First Celebrity Traitors star 'confirmed' for 2024 series as 'top choices' revealed

A huge actor that was on Claudia Winkleman's 'wishlist' has signed up to the celebrity version of BBC's The Traitors. .

A TV legend has reportedly been confirmed for the upcoming celebrity version of hit BBC series The Traitors.

Blackadder's Stephen Fry, 67, is said to have been approached to appear on the mystery game show and said yes, which has thrilled host Claudia Winkleman, 52, who was "desperate" to have him on.

“Claudia put Stephen right at the top of celebs she’d want on The Traitors and Stephen has made it clear he’d be game," a source told The Sun.

“Stephen is a fan of the show and Claudia was desperate for him to be in it. No contracts have been signed yet, but he told the show’s bosses to name a time and date and he’ll be there.”

Other famous faces Claudia is said to want on the show include Only Connect quiz host Victoria Coren Mitchell plus actors Adam Woodyatt and Andrew Garfield.

It has been reported that in the new year, a group of A-listers will take on the gripping roles of faithfuls and traitors on the small screen as part of a thrilling nine-part show.

On August 22, it was announced that the acclaimed psychological game show was given the green light for a fourth series as well as a nine-part celebrity spin-off.

Since its premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2022, The Traitors has consistently captivated its audience. The first series was an instant hit, and the second series saw staggering growth with 46m views on BBC iPlayer and an average of 8.1m views per episode.

Back in January fans were glued to their sofas to see who would win the ultimate prize. Over eight million people tuned in to find out who was crowned the winner. Harry 22, managed to surpass three faithfuls and one other traitor scooping £95,000.

It has also been reported that the third series of the hugely popular reality competition has already been filmed, once again in the Scottish Highlands.

The stunning backdrop of the show was Ardross Castle which is located just outside the town of Alness.

Since the series debuted on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2022, the show has established a loyal fan base who regularly pen their thoughts across social media.

It has also attracted a celebrity clientele after the likes of This Morning stars Rylan Clark and Rochelle Humes and ITV’s Lorraine claiming they were left hooked.

The network saw a staggering growth of 46 million viewers across series two, making it their biggest show for the under 30s.

It has also been said that the podcast The Traitors: Uncloaked will also return and run alongside the programme hosted by Ed Gamble.
