Jeremy Clarkson, the outspoken presenter known for his controversial remarks, previously confessed that he feels less self-assured when hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

The 63 year old former Top Gear star admitted he was left "always dreading" the Ask the Host lifeline offered to contestants.

"I'm never comfortable until the Ask the Host question is out of the way," he confesses. "I'm sitting there thinking, 'It's coming, it's coming. I'm going to make a fool out of myself in a minute!'"

He also finds it frustrating when contestants don't ask him questions he knows the answers to. "And the most infuriating thing is, there's a question the contestant doesn't know and I know the answer to it, and then they don't ask me. You think, 'Come on! I know that one! ' And then the next question is about Greek mythology, they ask me that and I've got no idea."

Jeremy also shared his top motto for competing on the show, saying: "You can't judge a book by its cover - there are people you think will be dull and you turn out to be wrong."

He also expressed surprise at the knowledge of younger contestants. "I look at very young contestants and think you can't possibly know as much as an older person because you haven't travelled or you haven't read as much - and then they blow your socks off. They're 24 but they've got the internet."

The Millionaire host Jeremy Clarkson revealed a family twist, admitting his brother-in-law's chances of competing are now dashed: "He would be absolutely brilliant and when Chris Tarrant was hosting, he tried to get on constantly."

He added: "But now I'm hosting, he won't be allowed. Hes absolutely furious. If my brother-in-law won £1 million, somebody might start asking questions."

Clarkson also shared crucial advice for contestants, highlighting the importance of using lifelines wisely: "I was reluctant to use the 50:50 and it's a very useful tool actually when used in conjunction with another lifeline," noting that combining it with a phone-a-friend can significantly boost a players odds.

When quizzed about his potential performance on the show, Clarkson chuckled at his own prospects: "I'd be hopeless," adding self-deprecatingly, "'What's your name? ' If there's £1 million riding on it, you wouldn't be completely certain."
