Former Strictly Come Dancing sensation Brendan Cole has spoken out about the current turmoil engulfing the beloved BBC dance competition.

The professional dancer, who graced the dance floor from 2004 until his departure in 2017, has danced with a host of celebrities including Fiona Phillips, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Natasha Kaplinsky, and Sunetra Sarker.

Cole recently revealed that he didn't always see eye to eye with all his celebrity partners, but noted that it's natural not to "gel" with everyone.

In an interview with Metro, Brendan reflected on the highs and lows of the show, stating: "It's the best job in the world but it's also the worst."

He elaborated on the magic of the show, saying, "If you get someone you enjoy working with and they enjoy working with you, it's phenomenal. You're going through this beautiful experience, hopefully getting as far as you can."

The 48 year old emphasised that a lack of chemistry doesn't reflect poorly on anyone's character, asserting that just because you don't gel with someone, doesn't mean either of you "isn't a nice person."

Brendan described the challenges of spending 12 hours a day with a partner you don't click with, especially given the high-pressure environment.

He pointed out that the intensity is amplified by the fact that celebrities and their professional partners are constantly tackling "something new every week" and then facing "being critiqued".

The star admitted he "didn't particularly like everyone".

The dancer, who has also graced the ice on Dancing on Ice, humorously suggested he'd consider a comeback if asked, as they're "running out of pros."

However, he quickly withdrew his comment, adding: "No, that's a joke - I wouldn't do that."

As Strictly prepares to mark its 20th anniversary, controversy has struck with multiple complaints raised and currently under investigation.
