Greg Rutherford's daughter Daphne was rushed to hospital on Monday after falling ill as his fiancée Susie Verrill issued an update on Instagram. His other half admitted she was "not good" as she struggled to breathe.

The blogger expressed she felt "guilty" having not taken her daughter to the hospital sooner as she revealed three-year-old Daphne had been diagnosed with croup.

She went on to share that her little one was feeling much better after being given steroids to treat the condition.

The Olympian, 37, who is currently away on a cruise around Greece and Turkey, also shares sons Milo, nine, Rex, six, with Susie.

Sharing updates from the hospital bed, she wrote: "So glad I decided to bring her to hospital because she was NOT good."

"What a difference some steroids make", she added.

Croup is a common respiratory illness in children that affects the upper airway, voice box, and windpipe. Symptoms can include a barking cough, a hoarse voice, difficulty breathing and cold-like symptoms.

In a follow-up message Susie penned: "Thanks for all your kind messages. I've got huge guilt for not taken her in sooner - we're pretty experienced with croup and aside from once with Milo it's always sorted itself out with cold air, drinks and keeping them calm.

"When I took her in this morning they heard her breathe and rushed us straight through to have steroids because her nostrils were flaring and throat was tugging.

"Because she had been so calm and chatty with me I didn't really panic too much initially."

Susie added her daughter was currently on the mend and feeling much better.

The news comes months after Greg was struck down with illness after appearing on ITV's Dancing On Ice and had to be operated on after tearing his stomach open while skating before being later diagnosed with whooping cough.

He was forced to pull out of the ITV show final after he sustained an injury during rehearsals, later revealing he had torn his abs.
