Gabby Logan issues Olympics complaint over Heptathlon issue that left her 'sick'

The sports presenter has not held back on the nail-biting finals that sees Team GB star Katarina fighting for Olympic Gold at Paris 2024.

Gabby Logan has made her feelings known about the nail-biting Heptathlon Olympics event on Friday August 9.

The sports presenter didn't hold back when reacting to the lengthy event that has British Olympian Katarina Johnson-Thompson bidding for heptathlon gold on Day 14 at Paris 2024.

Team GB star Katarina was Thursday night's leader in the seven-event heptathlon and hopes to end her long wait for a Games medal by this evening when things wrap up.

But it has been all too much for Gabby as she has taken in all the action. When fellow broadcaster and Olympian Jeanette Kwayke took to X to ask: "Anyone else feeling SICK watching this heptathlon Long Jump?" Gabby, 51, concurred by responding with a vomiting emoji.

Whike Katarina's long jump was a triumph, keeping her in first place, the javelin match eclipsed her achievements soon after.

Katarina's main gold-medal rival Nafi Thiam opened the javelin competition in epic form with an effort of 54.04metres, a season's best which puts her 121 points past the Team GB star in the javelin.

This is a significant lead going into tonight’s concluding 800m race, which is likely to have Gabby remain on edge.

It's not the first time Logan has made her feelings known about this year's games. She recently cast doubt over the winner's bell at the Paris 2024 Olympics, a revered tradition in athletics events.

The bell is typically rung by winners of events, however, Gabby spotted a potential issue with the timing of the bell during the celebrations.

The incident occurred when Sweden's pole-vaulting champion Armand Duplantis triumphantly rang the bell after securing his gold medal.

Sharing her scepticism, Gabby said: "Now, I've noticed this, that the bell starts to ring before the timer actually calls the bell. I'm hoping, I'm not seeing.. It's like Santa Claus. Is that what I'm seeing? Is this a bit of theatre going on down there?", she asked.

She added firmly: "In the name of good journalism I want to make sure that that bell is real."

It came after Gabby bravely opened up about her personal health struggles. The Welsh star revealed she was having memory troubles, which led to her hesitating on-air and proved particularly challenging while covering major events like the Olympics for the BBC.

The "brain fog" Gabby experienced is a well-documented symptom of perimenopause, often described by women as feeling like their heads are full of "cotton wool".

However, the former rhythmic gymnast found solace in identifying the cause of her forgetfulness. To help combat this, she adopted the method of keeping a piece of paper with her on-set to quickly note down names.

"I was always so good at recall," she told The Telegraph. "I got through a law degree basically just by going, 'Ah, page 32, Smith versus Cook'. I was always good with names, finding the right word at the right time, and I'd find myself humming a bit or using 'very, very, very'.

She added: "Then, when I realised it was a symptom of perimenopause, it was actually a relief, like it normally is when you realise something is part of a process and you can do something about it."
