The 39-year-old, Teenage Dream songstress was brimming with enthusiasm before Sunday night's battle where England squared off against Spain in Berlin. Hopping onto X - the platform formerly known as Twitter - she exclaimed that "football is coming home" next to an emoji of the United Kingdom flag.
However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice the blunder, pointing out that the game featured England, not the whole of the UK, which includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
One fan warned: "Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish are about to descend on this tweet."
Another couldn't help but chuckle, posting: "Katy, it's [England flag]. Quite sure that the rest of the UK won't be cheering for England." A third couldn't resist a jibe, saying, "Thanks sis next time try to use the correct flag."
