Retired Olympic athlete Greg Rutherford has revealed he rushed his son to hospital following “another head injury” in a new social media update. The former Strictly Come Dancing star took to his Instagram story to share the news with his 199,000 followers.

The picture showed a tired-looking Greg sitting next to his son Rex, whose face was partially hidden, in the hospital waiting room. Rex sported a bandage over a nasty-looking cut on his forehead.

“Back to the hospital,” Greg wrote. “It would seem we have created my EXACT replica in Rexy.

“Another head injury to leave another scar,” the long jump champion added incredulously. “He’s got a few more to go to match me, but he’s doing his best to catch.” (sic)

This isn’t the first time Greg has been forced to take his adventurous young son to hospital. In January, the six-year-old was taken into A&E following an accident at home that resulted in him losing “a ton of blood”.

Greg, who shares three children with his fiancé Susie Verrill, posted a photo of Rex's injury after taking him to A&E to have his head glued back together.

At the time, he wrote: “Young Rexy took on the door frame and lost... a ton of blood and some tears later we're in A&E hoping his new head mouth can be closed soon.” (sic)

He said: “One minute I'm stressing about a silly ice dance, the next mopping up blood and taking young Rexy to hospital. Perspective is key. PS he was SO brave.”

As well as competing on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside Natalie Lowe back in 2016, Greg also recently took part in ITV’s latest season of Dancing On Ice.

Greg continued: “The wonderful staff and Milton Keynes hospital glued his head back and we were on our way, Rexy hardly flinched. Love the NHS.

His partner Susie also shared a clip on Instagram, sharing: “So following on from a very late night on Sunday, yesterday I was like we're gonna do early bath, we were gonna do early dinner, we were so smug it was running very smoothly.

“I'd asked the boys to get their pyjamas on, they'd had their bath, I was in the shower, thenI heard a bang, and crying because obvs they didn't listen to me, that would be silly!

“And so I ran naked into Rex's room, where he didn't realise, he was bleeding profusely all over his duvet because he'd cracked his head open, and then that upset Milo.

“Greg had to take Rex to A&E to have his head glued, came home and essentially they were still awake at gone 10 eating cake, because why not?” she added patiently. (sic)
