Ruth Langsford cries 'part of my heart has been ripped out' over fears of being alone

Ruth Langsford broke down in tears as she opened up about being lonely, just months before it was reported she and Eamonn Holmes had split after 14 years.

The television duo, who have been an item for over ten years and co-hosted This Morning, have reportedly called it quits. The Sun reported: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

This revelation follows a heartfelt moment in December when Ruth, appearing on Loose Women, became overwhelmed with emotion discussing her family dynamics. The 64-year-old presenter described feeling as if "part of my heart ripped out" while reflecting on her son Jack's move to university.

Ruth, mother to 21 year old Jack whom she shares with Eamonn, couldn't hold back the tears as she recounted how difficult it was for her when Jack left home.

During a live video chat, an emotional Ruth said: "That first week of not having him at home literally felt like part of my heart ripped out. I kept his bedroom door shut."

Speaking to Hello!, Ruth recalled: "I remember coming into his bedroom and crying and getting hold of the pillow, and I could smell him on the pillow and had a good old cry, and then shutting the door, and then that first week was horrendous because I was just so used to having him around."

Subsequently, Ruth posted a snapshot of herself in tears from the video chat on her social media, expressing embarrassment: "I can't believe I cried."

Jack, Ruth's son, pursued a degree in broadcast journalism at Salford University and recently celebrated his 21st birthday with his celebrity parents. Although Jack is Ruth's only child, Eamonn shares two sons and a daughter; Declan, Rebecca, and Niall, with his ex-wife Gabrielle.

"Reflecting on the emotional turmoil of her son leaving for university last year, Ruth confessed: "I truly understand the pain of empty nest syndrome.

"The day we dropped Jack off at university, we said goodbye and, as we got around the corner, I burst into tears and Eamonn was crying too. It sounds dramatic but for the next three days, I felt like I'd had my womb ripped out.

Opening up to Woman and Home, she recounted: "I was sitting on his bed, sniffing his pillow, and I kept his bedroom door shut because then I could imagine he was in there. Now it's great. Jack seems so happy and I don't get as upset each time he comes home and then leaves again."
