Jason Manford has hit back at a joke a fan made on social media following his recent announcement that he'll be joining Waterloo Road. The comedian will be taking on a new role in the upcoming season later this year.
The 42-year-old will be taking on the part of headteacher Steve Savage and his character set to have a "big impact on the staff and pupils." Whilst many fans have been delighted with the news, one follower of the BBC series couldn't help but poke fun at Jason.
Taking to X, a person commented online: "@JasonManford how much 'Just for Men' did you go through?" which is a reference to the men's hair colourant brand and aims to gradually reduce of gray hair.
Seeing the funny side to the jibe, Jason quipped: "Haha you know what, incredibly whilst I do have a few greys coming through, that is my natural colour! My dad still has dark hair now in his late 60s so I’m keeping fingers crossed!"
One of his followers replied in the comments: "You lucky sod! Enjoy it while you can. I've been going white one strand at a time since I was 29! At 41 I look weird. I'm allergic to almonds (& several nut oils, which are in hair dye), so I can't dye my hair (henna is expensive & the shampoo for that usually has nut oil in it)."

Speaking about his upcoming stint, Jason exclaimed: "What an absolute treat it is to join the cast and crew of Waterloo Road, right here in my home city of Manchester.
"My kids and I binged the show on iPlayer during lockdown. It’s such a brilliant, iconic show, so I’m dead proud to now be part of its history. Growing up, I always wanted to be a teacher and now becoming a headteacher, I know I would have been terrible!"
Jason is probably best known for being a comedian and writer, originally hailing from Salford in Lancashire. He began his career in 1999 and hosted the television series Unbeatable for three years in 2021.
