Gyles Brandreth has admitted defeat as he shares an update surrounding a domestic argument with his wife.

Standing next to the tree he looked glum and said “no lights, no baubles, no tinsel”. After confessing how taken a back he was, the television presenter questioned “what’s wrong with the world”.
However, after informing his 209,000 X followers [formerly known as Twitter], his partners plan to dismantle the tree early he emerged victoriously. By yesterday evening, he appeared to have triumphed in the battle as the tree’s lights had been switched on.
“Good news. I’ve won the argument & the Christmas tree lights stay on until the close of play on the Feast of Epiphany: 6 January," he wrote. But today he updated fans that in fact he had certainly not won the battle.
Posting a snap of the tree slumped along the road he wrote “oh no”. Shortly after he gave fans more detail of the situation.

He said: “Defeat. I don’t believe it”.
Gyles continued: “The Christmas tree is out in the street waiting for the bin people to collect it when it should be at home brightly lit until tomorrow night - 6 January, the Feast of the Epiphany.”
Expressing his outrage he added: “I’m not happy.”
Fans stood in solidarity with star as the leaped to the comments section.
“The war on Christmastide must be fought from behind every street corner, a string of tinsel behind every blade of grass”, said one user.
“My wife maintains ours needs to come down today, but I think we've one more day to go. Who can settle this? I want the extra day”, said another.
A third quipped: “Don't let this needle you, don't pine for a better ending. Give it to the local book store, they like trees,”
They added: “Ask for Cone-on the Librarian, a big guy, but nice”.
While a fourth praised the media personality for “sticking” to his guns for as long as he could.
They penned: “Well done for sticking it out as you should. Unbelievable when you see people taking down all their decs on or around Boxing Day”.
“Let's not forget why we have Christmas and what it's all about”.
The writer who has appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox and the One Show has been linked to appearing on Celebrity Big Brother.
While speaking on This Morning with Rylan Clark and Josie Gibson he hinted that he may be part of the ITV line up this year. He revealed he'd been courted by the show in the past.
"Well, I have been asked. Yes I have been asked, but I say no to these things," Gyles insisted.
