EastEnders star rushed to hospital after 'painful and bloody' accident at gym
EastEnders' former Amira Masood actress Preeya Kalidas was rushed to hospital and later referred to a specialist, after sustaining a "bloody" injury from trapping her finger in a door.
Former EastEnders star Preeya Kalidas was taken to hospital after a nasty accident at the gym on Thursday.
The soap star, who played Amira Masood in the BBC drama in 2009, detailed what happened on her social media pages.
On X, previously known as Twitter, she said: "So up and about starting the day in the gym. Then trapped finger in door.
"Now In A&E... moral of the story. Anything can happen at any point so LIVE!"
Preeya, 43, later took to her Instagram to share further details with her 34,000 followers.
The actress showed told fans her injury was "painful and bloody" in a video of her bandaged up finger.
In a follow-up clip, a nurse was seen rolling tape onto the damaged area which she captioned: "The nurse said, 'I need to put this on like a condom'."
As she walked away from the hospital, the soapstar revealed she was on her way to see a specialist.
"This is not how I was planning to spend my day," she told the camera. "It just shows you anything can happen at any moment".
After an X-Ray, specialists determined that her bone was not broken and that she didn't need stitches.

"Life carries on," she concluded.
Most recently, she shared a clip of herself making coffee as she moves on from her injury drama.
Preeya rose to fame in EastEnders as part of the Masood family.
One of her final moments on the soap was when she married husband Syed (Marc Elliott) in a traditional Muslim ceremony, completely unaware of his gay affair with Christian Clarke (John Partridge).
She left the soap to focus on her singing career and went on release the track Cross My Heart with Skepta in 2011.
Last year, Preeya said she would love to make a return to the soap.
She told The Metro: "I had the best time on that show – it’s one of the highlights of my career.
"I loved playing Amira so, absolutely, I would if there was a storyline as full of drama as the previous ones."
The actress went on to say it was "bizarre" to be in the soap, as she used to watch it as a kid.
Of meeting Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, she spilled: "He came up and introduced himself. He was lovely – he wasn’t Phil, he was Steve McFadden so it was fine."
