Gardeners’ World star Monty Don hits back at criticism after sharing 'nasty' health battle
Gardeners' World host Monty Don has hit out at criticism after he shared that he'd been suffering from a "nasty" health ordeal.
He initially shared a picture of a positive covid test with with his 297,000 followers, explaining that he'd been feeling unwell.
“This explains why I spent yesterday in bed with a raging fever. Its a nasty one,” he wrote.
Many fans then shared support for the TV star with comments including: “Best wishes for a speedy recovery,” and: “Feel better soon Monty!”

Author Olivia Harrison, 74, replied on Instagram: “Yes that would explain it. You can work on your next book! Feel better.”
Journalist Sophie Raworth, 55, also added: “Glad that not this time next week…….!!!!!!”(sic)
However, one user was less keen on Monty’s reveal.
They commented: “Why people still take a covid test is one of life's perennial mysteries.
“Why they feel the need to then photograph it and tell everyone is simply baffling. You really need to move on.”
Monty then responded two days later with his reason, saying Covid was “still potentially very dangerous”.
“If positive, one can be extra careful not to spread it,” he added.
Monty cheekily ended the reply with why he decided to share the post on social media: "That’s the nature of Twitter."
The German-born presenter then updated fans on Instagram of what he was getting up to including a walk outside.

Monty posted a photo from his garden: “Ventured out of bed for a walk round the garden - best medicine.”
However, his contraction of Covid isn’t the first time he's spoken openly about his health.
Discussing his book, The Jewel Garden, to Hello! Magazine, the TV star recalled one painful episode last year.
"I remember one particularly grim November week I had dysentery, a bad sinus infection and thrush simultaneously. Happy days,” he said.
In the book, which he co-wrote with his wife Sarah, he explained how “the body becomes a burden”.
"Your immune system packs up, your bowels go haywire, your teeth ache. Your hair falls out and your skin erupts, cracks or sags," he wrote.
He added that his spouse would let him know that he would appear “yellowish-gray”. (sic)
“It is all physical, all painful, uncomfortable and often disgusting," it read.
