BBC Breakfast's Rachel Burden hits back at licence fee complaint: 'Really awful'
BBC BREAKFAST star Rachel Burden fired back at a Radio 5 Live listener who complained that her chit-chat with co-host Rick Edwards, wasn't worth paying the controversial BBC licence fee.
Rick Edwards has his first coffee on BBC 5 Live Breakfast
BBC star Rachel Burden, 47, found herself defending a friendly conversation she had on-air with Radio 5 Live co-star Rick Edwards, as the pair chatted about coffee. But their light-hearted exchange was blasted by one listener, who wondered why they were paying the BBC's licence fee to listen to that "sort of content".
Yes - really awful coffee
It comes after Rachel was stunned that Rick had given in and had his first cup of coffee after three months.
The official Twitter account for 5 Live tweeted a clip of their chat, which Rachel described as "exciting".
"Something exciting has happened in the studio,' she grinned.
"I've been working with Rick for three months nearly and for the first time he has requested a cup of coffee!"

Rick could be seen laughing and nodding as Rachel continued: "Three months getting up at 3:20am and now you've succumbed."
He replied: "I've broken!
"It's not bad to have gone this long with out it."
Rachel agreed: "It's amazing!

"But it's a particularly manky cup of coffee I made for you because I don't drink coffee so I don't know about it," she admitted, explaining she gets her daily caffeine fix from her tea.
"This is what I needed, black instant coffee," Rick smiled as said he was "feeling the buzz".
Rachel giggled as she said: "I slightly feel that the flood gates will open now and you'll be necking a double expresso at 4am!"
Laughing, Rick added: "Twitching wildly!"

Rachel concluded the chat: "I fear the consequences..."
But after listening to the friendly exchange, one listener wasn't impressed.
Replying to the tweeted clip, @DarthJ6m13A snapped: "Ah so this is the sort of content the license fee is paying for? #DefundTheBBC."
While many rushed to explain that it was just chit-chat between segments, Rachel also responded with a sarcastic joke.
"Yes - really awful coffee," she penned, referring to her poorly made cuppa.
On her side, one fan also said: "I mean, seriously? I don't begrudge you or @rickedwards1 a coffee at 4am or any other time of the day!"
