Dan Walker: BBC host blasts troll who suggests he is having an affair with Sally Nugent
DAN WALKER, BBC Breakfast host alongside Louise Minchin, hit out at an online troll after they insinuated he and his colleague Sally Nugent were having an affair.
Dan Walker, 43, hung a BBC Breakfast viewer out to dry on Twitter yesterday, after the troll posted a crude tweet about him and his BBC colleague Sally Nugent. The viewer insinuated the two were embroiled in an affair, but Dan was quick to shut down the despicable claim.
What a pathetic thing to tweet. I hope you treat that young girl in your Twitter banner photo with a bit more respect
Dan, who has been married to wife Sarah for 19 years, furiously lashed out at the "pathetic" comment.
The post in question read: "Is @mrdanwalker bending one in that bird from the @BBCBreakfast show?"
The host, who monitors his social media accounts regularly, didn’t leave it long before he launched a seething tirade in response to the claims.
"'That bird' is my friend @sallynugent and she is happily married.

"What a pathetic thing to tweet. I hope you treat that young girl in your Twitter banner photo with a bit more respect,” Dan wrote.
“You’ve been reported to Twitter. Have a nice day."
The savage response seemed to put the troll in their place, while other fans weighed in on the debacle.
Supporting the BBC host, one viewer wrote: “You have to marvel at the pure self centred stupidity where he would think, I know, I’ll tweet this as it may get me a like….”

Another said: “This is terrible ignore the idiot.
“I think you are all great on BBC breakfast. Love you all.”
Someone else called the callous behaviour “disgusting”.
A little later, Dan posted another zinger, this time referring to the troll’s other tweets.

Noticing that they had since posted a tribute to the late Caroline Flack who’s funeral was held on Tuesday, the troll had written: “Hearing the news about Caroline Flack makes you realise you never know what’s going on in someone’s mind... always be nice to people. #treatpeoplehowyouwantedtobetteated RIP @carolineflack1.”
Noting the hypocrisy in his words, Dan slammed: "You might also want to read through your own timeline”.
Dan married Sarah in 2001 and they share three children together.
He often posts quirky family posts on his Twitter account, but hasn’t shared recent pictures of his kids.
Sally is also married with one child.
The sports presenter appears to be a pretty private person, keeping her personal life out of the spotlight.
The two appear regularly on the BBC Breakfast sofa together.
