Katie Piper Instagram: Presenter, 35, reveals real reason behind ‘scary’ hospital stay
KATIE PIPER has broken her silence via Instagram on the reason behind her two-week health battle, after she was “officially discharged” from hospital earlier today.
Katie Piper leaves hospital after treatment for ‘severe’ infection
Katie Piper jubilantly took to Instagram to reveal how she was feeling and explained the reason she had been in hospital. The presenter had previously simply told her 868,000 followers she had been diagnosed with a “bad infection”, however now she has gone into details about what happened. The 35-year-old was left needing treatment for sepsis after the infection spread to her blood. Saying it had been a “scary” end to the month, the mother-of-two took time to thank those that had looked after her.
So this should be my final selfie from the ward for a while
Katie shared a candid image as she sat on the ward in a bright, patterned top with thick printed straps.
“Happy Days…” she captioned it. “I have been officially discharged from treatment for my infection.
“So this should be my final selfie from the ward for a while. I didn’t want to post too many details on here until I knew what was going to be the outcome.”
The star continued: “Thank you to everyone who has sent me get well soon msgs, cards and gifts.
“I had a kidney infection that spread to my blood leaving me being treated for Sepsis.”(sic)
Saying it had been a “pretty rough time”, Katie went on: “I’m so happy to finally feel better, extremely grateful to all the NHS staff who helped me fight this infection.
“We are so lucky to have this system.”
The small screen regular also uploaded a number of short clips, once again explaining what had happened to her.
“I’ve had great news today,” Katie said. “I was back in hospital for my final appointment - I was officially discharged today after two weeks of treatment.
“Obviously it was quite unexpected - I didn’t want to put this much on here, as I didn’t really know what was happening. But now I have made a full recovery.”
“It was quite scary and I didn’t really foresee that happening…” she added candidly. “I can finally get back to normal.
“This is the most normal I have felt in the last two weeks. I don’t know what I would’ve done without all the excellent care.”
Just days earlier, Katie had been seen cuddling up to her husband Richard James Sutton, who she wed back in 2015.
They were seen sat in each others arms on the sofa in the monochrome picture, as she tenderly held his head.
“B A N K H O L I D A Y. No plans, No BBQ, No Boozy lunches. Just sofa and duvet whilst my parents enjoy their grandkids,”(sic) she stated.
The couple have two daughters together: Belle, five, and Penelope.
