Huge waterpark opening at UK seaside resort just in time for summer

It's fantastic news for fun-seekers as Scarborough's Alpamare water park is set to swing open its doors to the public once again next week.

Starting 10am on Wednesday, July 24, it will be all systems go for both adults and little ones desperate for a splash about in the newly refurbished wave pool and the splash and play pool. Four state-of-the-art slides and a duo of outdoor pools are also on offer alongside a cafe and terrace bar overlooking the picturesque North Bay.

For those desiring some tranquillity, you'll need to wait a bit longer as the alpine-themed spa and treatment area is poised to launch at an as-yet-unconfirmed later date.

This grand opening signifies a monumental turnaround for North Yorkshire Council after they reclaimed possession of the site back in December of last year when Benchmark Leisure Ltd, its previous tenant, went under, reports Yorkshire Live.

Flamingo Land has now taken up the reins temporarily while simultaneously seeking a permanent operator for the beloved water park. Gordon Gibb, Flamingo Land CEO, said: "This opening would not have been possible without a super-human effort from our team and fantastic support from North Yorkshire Council."

He further credited the council team's professionalism and commitment as instrumental to this success. Gibb embraced the future enthusiastically, anticipating a warm welcome back from visitors and a much-needed boost to the resort's summer season.

Deputy leader Councillor Gareth Dadd echoed this jubilation, he said: "I am delighted that we have managed to get this attraction back open in time for the busy school holidays."

"It is a massive asset for the town and securing Flamingo Land as the operator is key to its success. It is great to be working with a well-established, local and trusted company."
