Europe's best 10 city breaks for Brits named — with one underrated city coming in first
The best city break destinations have been revealed by Which? Travel's annual survey, with the winning city being crowned top the fifth year in a row.
Europe is full of popular destinations, perfect for city breaks, from Paris to Rome or perhaps Barcelona. However, just because these are the most well-known doesn't mean they're going to be the best. Looking at a number of categories, including food and drink, accommodation, cultural sights and attractions, shopping, ease of getting around, lack of crowds, and value for money, Which? Travel has determined British holidaymakers’ 10 favourite European city breaks.
Naomi Leach, Deputy Editor of Which? Travel said: "Whether you are looking for culture, art, history or top gastronomy, there are several European cities that deliver. Book ahead and choose to visit off-season to secure the best prices."
"British holidaymakers who look beyond the most famous destinations, can find great value for money in foodie escapes, such as Krakow and Valencia. Despite the crowds, classic city breaks Venice and Vienna scored highly with visitors due to their unparalleled cultural attractions."
10. Budapest, Hungary
The Hungarian capital of Budapest came in at number ten. This stunning city has been designated as one of the world's "outstanding urban landscapes," by UNESCO, with historical remains dating back to the Roman era.
According to Which?, a one-night hotel stay in the city will set you back an average of just £82, while a flight will be around £144. And it's certainly worth it, with Budapest receiving four stars for value for money.
This beautiful city also received four stars for food and drink, accommodation, cultural sights and tourist attractions, and ease of getting around.

9. Berlin, Germany
The German capital of Berlin came in at number nine, with five-star ratings for accommodation and ease of getting around. Although the city dropped to three for value for money and food and drink.
For a hotel stay, Berlin comes out slightly more expensive than Budapest at £97 per night. However, flights are cheaper when jetting off to Germany, with Which? noting that this will set you back just £124.

8. Prague, Czechia
Next on the list was Prague, a destination that has become increasingly popular with British tourists in recent years. This trend appears to be set to continue, with Which? giving the city four stars for value for money.
Although it is perhaps not the best city for those looking to get away from the crowds, Prague received just two stars for its lack of crowds.
The researchers have found that an average one-night stay in the Czech capital will cost just £79, with a flight setting you back £120.

7. Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux was the only French city to make the top 10 list, beating out both Paris and Nice, which came in at 18th and 14th, respectively. Known for its reputation as a popular wine-growing city, Bordeaux received five stars for food and drink.
This stunning city was also granted five stars for ease of getting around and lack of crowds. The average hotel price for the region is £100 a night, while a flight costs £128.

6. Seville, Spain
One of two Spanish cities to appear in the top 10, Seville proves slightly more expensive than some of the other cities, although does still gain three stars for value for money. Here a hotel stay comes in at £111 and a flight at £134.
While the city gets five stars for accommodation and food and drink, with four stars for ease of getting around, and cultural sights and tourist attractions.
