Brits looking to catch the final rays of summer could snag some serious bargains as travel season simmers down!
With summer's peak travel rush winding down, British wanderlusts can look forward to seizing significant discounts on a range of flights and destinations.
Expedia's travel guru, Melanie Fish, has delved deep into this autumn's travel trends, unveiling tempting deals that could mean over £100 in savings.
Melanie revealed: "Summer sun escapes are a firm fixture on Brits' calendars, but shoulder season should be about spontaneity if you want to save hundreds of pounds on your trip. Other Autumn savings tips include booking two weeks out which can save on average £120."
Calling out a week of golden opportunities, Fish pinpointed seven extraordinary days in September when airfares average nearly £100 less than usual, with even greater savings compared to the high-water mark of summer prices.
or those who plan with precision, she also shed light on December offerings: "The best flight deals are showing from 22 29 September and to avoid the hotel crowds, plan a break on 10 or 17 December."
Data crunching by Expedia indicates that travellers can trim an average of £120 off their flight expenses by booking 14 to 20 days ahead, as opposed to a lead time of 91 days. This presents a saving of £60 over securing a seat two to three months prior.
As for hotels, early November delivers deals, specifically between November 3 and November 9, offering nightly rates that average £15 less than during the sweltering summer.
Autumn holidays have been found to be 15% cheaper on average than their summer equivalents, according to recent research. The study also revealed that Brits are showing an increased interest in lesser-known European destinations during this season.

The fastest-growing attractions, based on hotel searches over the autumn period compared to last year, include Saint Malo in France, Didim in Turkey, Tromso in Norway, Poznan in Poland and Tangier in Morocco.
Italy proved particularly popular, with four cities - Syracuse, Palermo, Brescia and Ischia - making the list.
The only non-European destination to feature was Beijing in China.
