THE MOST expensive cities in the world to live have recently been revealed in a new study that has analysed a number of factors such as rent, food and dining options. UK city London made a surprising entry on the list.
The most expensive cities in the world have been released, although shockingly didn’t feature many popular tourist locations.
Collated by Numbeo, the Cost of Living Index 2018 has analysed a number of criteria to find the priciest places.
Cost of rent, groceries and restaurants were all factors, which found the city of Hamilton on the island of Bermuda the number one most expensive city.
This may come as a shock to many who would assume other locations in the world would beat it.
The capital city is one of the smallest cities in the world and is often attractive to tourists and residents due to being a tax haven.

Surprisingly, cities in the UK didn’t even make the top 20.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the second, third, fourth, fifth and six most expensive countries were all found in Switzerland.
Norway and the United States made up the rest of the top 20 places, with Copenhagen in Denmark coming in 20th.
While the list may surprise some, the data collated used average costs to work it out.
Therefore countries that may have extremely expensive cities, can also have cities that have much cheaper restaurants and rent prices.
This would then drag them further down the list when working out the average living expenses.
For people wanting a cheaper way of life, the least expensive cities could be found in India.
Thiruvananthapuram was the cheapest, with Navi and Mumbai also at the bottom of the list.
An alternative study by TimeOut revealed where the best cities in the world were when it came to happiness and friendliness.
Chicago in the US took the top spot, following by Porto in Portugal. London came in fifth place, followed by Manchester in seventh.
