THE LEAST religious countries in the world have been revealed with some surprising entries.

The countries where citizens see themselves as not religious has been revealed.
A survey by Gallup International polls reveals that a number of countries feel that they are no longer very religious.
Many of them are considered to be some of the happiest places or progressive countries in terms of politics and healthcare.
Even the UK makes the list at number 10, with only 30 per cent stating they are religious.

Others to make the top five include Sweden (19 per cent), Norway (21 per cent) and the Netherlands (26 per cent)
The survey also found which countries identified as being the most religious when asking citizens, with five countries in first place.
Ethiopia, Malawi, Niger, Sri Lanka and Yemen all had a whopping 99 per cent admitting to being religious in the country.

The survey explained some of the findings and what the group of countries revealed when comparing their religious outlooks.
It wrote: “A population's religiosity level is strongly related to its average standard of living.
“Eight of the 11 countries in which almost all residents (at least 98 per cent) say religion is important in their daily lives are poorer nations in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
“On the opposite end of the spectrum, the 10 least religious countries studied include several with the world's highest living standards.”
Of course, this is all just observational, as the study also states: “Obviously, these data only compare the importance of religion in people's lives -- they say nothing about what being highly religious means in different parts of the world and among different faiths.”
