Thomas Cook relaunch flights to Tunisia - two years after beach terror attack
THOMAS COOK has re-introduced flights to Tunisia, the first holiday provider to do so two years after the beach terror attack.
Thomas Cook are to relaunch flights to Tunisia
Tunisia has suffered from a huge decline in tourism since the 2015 beach terror attack with claimed the lives of thirty British holidaymakers.
Flight and holiday packages to the north African destination were then suspended in light of this, with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advising only essential travel to the region.
However, Thomas Cook is one of the first providers to reintroduce flights to Tunisia, two years after the attack took place.
It is hoped that British tourists will once again travel to the once popular destination.
Thomas Cook is to restart the flights on February 13 and have gone on sale today.
It is also to offer hotel accommodation near to Hammamet, a beach town in the region.
Whilst the destination is still under threat from terrorist attacks, the improved security and police forces have enabled the government to change the level of travel advice.

We are restarting our flight and holiday programme from 13 February next year
Carol MacKenzie, head of customer welfare at Thomas Cook, wrote in a blog post: "At the end of July this year, the UK government changed its advice for Tunisia meaning that British holidaymakers can now travel to the majority of the country.
"As a result, and reflecting the interest we've had from customers, we are restarting our flight and holiday programme from 13 February next year, which is on sale from 22 August.
"When I visited Tunisia recently, I noticed the increase in security presence on the hotel beaches, and the holidaymakers I spoke to talked of the good, friendly relationship they have with the hotel security and police who patrol the beach and tourist areas.
"It was also clear how closely the hotels and the police work together, and their excitement about the British customers returning to their country."

However, she also warns of the potential worries that come with any destination in Europe.
She commented: ”Please remember that like other popular North African tourist destinations Morocco and Egypt, the UK government also warns that 'further attacks remain likely, including in places visited by foreigners such as tourist resorts'.
"You should always consult FCO travel advice before making your decision."
Holidaymakers should always check the FCO website for any updates to the destination they are travelling to in light of recent terror attacks.
