Luton Airport announces DIRECT train shuttle service in huge £200m expansion
TRAVELLERS who regularly fly with budget airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air can now get to Luton Airport more easily, as it announces plans for a direct train shuttle to the airport.
A £200m expansion has been announced for London Luton airport with a new train shuttle
Luton Airport is a popular choice for travellers wanting to fly on a budget.
With many of the flights from the terminals being with Ryanair, it is easy to see why.
However, it isn’t always the easiest to get to out of the London airports, with Gatwick and Heathrow having direct train services.
Yet this is set to change in the next few years.
Luton Airport has announced that the plans for a direct train shuttle to the airport have been accepted.
The service will run from Luton Airport Parkway station to the terminals, with a length of 1.4 miles.
Currently, there is a bus shuttle service which can take at least ten minutes, depending on rush hour traffic.
Therefore any holidaymakers in a rush sometimes have to walk the long route instead.

It's an exciting development which will enhance the passenger experience at Luton
With the new service, it is hoped that holidaymakers will be able to get to the airport from London in under thirty minutes, drastically improving the journey time.
As the fifth-busiest airport in the UK, it is hoped that the update will help the 14.6 million passengers reported to have travelled from it last year.
Predictions show that it could increase to 18 million people using the airport by 2020.
With this also being the date that the new train shuttle is due to be completed, it is just one part of the £200 million expansion planned for the airport.
Dave Taylor, chair of planning at Luton Borough Council, stated: "It's an exciting development which will enhance the passenger experience at Luton.”
