HEATHROW AIRPORT has been thrown into chaos after a baggage system failure at terminal 3 and terminal 5 today.

The London hub has been disrupted this morning after a baggage systems issue.
Passengers have been warned they face flying without their luggage after the drama.
Terminal 3 and terminal 5 are both experiencing the problem, with affected airlines including British Airways, Lufthansa and Amercian Airlines.
Heathrow has released a statement apologising to customers.

Heathrow is currently experiencing an issue with its baggage systems which is affecting airlines operating from terminal 3 and terminal 5
It said: “Heathrow is currently experiencing an issue with its baggage systems which is affecting airlines operating from terminal 3 and terminal 5.
“This may mean passengers will travel without their bags and we advise them to pack essential items in their hand luggage.
“We are currently investigating the issue. We are sorry for the disruption and are working hard to get the system running as soon as possible."
Affected passengers have vented their anger on social media.

One customer wrote on Twitter: “When your [sic] leaving for a snorkelling field trip and the Heathrow baggage system fails. Doooom! #canwefitfinsinhandluggage”.
Another passenger tweeted: “Heathrow baggage system not working. Bags being walked to planes!”
Rachel Jackson wrote: “Just found out that despite checking in 3 hours early bag not on flight disgusted what are you doing about it @HeathrowAirport”.
Heathrow has assured passengers engineers are working to fix the problem.

Last month a similar problem caused severe check-in delays at Gatwick Airport.
