MR AND MRS SMITH - the luxury hotel booking website - has revealed the best boutique hotels in the world and one hidden beach resort in Australia has come out on top.

Halcyon House in Cabarita Beach, on the sunny New South Wales coast, has been voted the best hotel on the planet.
The retro, breezy fit out took out the top gong for Best Smith Hotel in the coveted awards.
Mr and Mrs Smith is a booking website for the most luxurious and boutique accommodation stays around the world.
It was founded in 2003 and now hosts more than 1,000 properties in its portfolio.

What sets these awards apart is the way they are judged - by real guests who leave anonymous reviews on the site after their stays.
This year’s judges included more than 25,000 travellers from all over the world.
Halcyon House soared to first place after coming runner up last year.
It describes itself as 'part beach house, part Hamptons hideaway’, comprising 21 rooms set out in quirky seasonal style.

There were 11 other awards doled out to worthy winners across the globe, including the Best-Dressed Hotel.
Palazzo Margherita in Basilicata, Italy took out this accolade - with its 19th century grandeur and sophisticated vintage style.

The suite is perched on top of trees in a sprawling rainforest, with a four poster bed, al fresco bath tub and private pool.
Most Spoiling Spa was awarded to Amanemu in Mie, Japan, while Pool with a View went to Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como, Italy.
London took out its own gong for Best Date-Night Bar, with the London EDITION in Soho claiming the prize.
Other accolades included Best Family Hotel at the Treehotel in Sweden and Local Hotel Hero at 11 Howard, New York.
