Photographer captures stunning meteors and the Milky Way on camera
A PHOTOGRAPHER had only seconds to take a stunning photo that captured some of the world’s nature wonders.
Mike Mezeul visited the Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii
Mike Mezeul, from the US, seized the chance to capture the moon, a meteor, lava and the Milky Way galaxy in one shot.
The 32-year-old was in the Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii when he took this spectacular photo.
In the foreground is the red fiery lava crashing against the blackened rocks.
This is set against the starry, purple blue skies of the galaxy with the moon shining bright and even a meteor.

Mike said: “I was literally in shock.
“It was my third frame to shoot after the sun had set, and after I saw the meteor, I knew I couldn’t beat that image, so I packed it up and headed back.”
Mike had hiked nearly 13 miles on the round trip to the volcanoes to capture what he described as “some of the most extreme landscapes” on camera.
Other photos he took on the day include lava pouring into the sea and as it hits the surface, steam shoots up into the air.

He added: “There some times while shooting that I only had a few seconds to get the shot before having to move because of risking getting burned.
“Once I found the lava surface flows, it was so amazing to see something that had travelled so far from the centre of our Earth to that exact spot where I was standing.
“This was a first for me shooting lava, and it certainly won’t be the last.”
But Mike is not the only one to capture mesmerising photographs.

A British photographer has been going around the world and capturing haunting images of abandoned buildings.
Crumbling brickwork, rotting timbers and peeling paint is a common theme in Simon Yeung’s photos.
Simon has made it his mission to travel around the world visiting dilapidated structures, which include train stations, hotels, churches, mansion and even hospitals.
The aim of his work is to highlight the beauty of decay.
