The awe-inspiring landscape is shaped by an enormous gorge stretching 277 miles in length, and up to 18 miles wide.
Situated in Arizona, the canyon was created by the Colorado River, which runs throughout its steep red cliffs.
The breathtaking scale of the gorge combined with the rich red colour of the sand has made the Grand Canyon one of biggest tourist attractions in the United States.

Thousands of tourists flock to the state throughout the year to witness the expansive formation for themselves.

For most, edging slowly toward the cliff with cameras clutched firmly in hand is enough to set the heart rate soaring.
But for some thrill-seeking adventurers, the touristic experience of the Grand Canyon is simply not enough.
YouTube video blogger Chase Reinford much prefers to jump off of it.

The video shows Chase climbing to the peak of the steep deep red cliffs, where a huge waterfall flows into crystal clear water below.
Not long after reaching the edge, Chase propels himself off the 125ft cliff, managing a double somersault on his way down.
The heart-stopping manoeuvre is over in a matter of seconds, when Chase lands his dive in the water.
Reinford claims to be the first ever to jump from that cliff
But it wasn’t as smooth as it looked, according to the extreme sports fanatic.
Clutching his stomach after the dive, Chase tells the camera: “That was the biggest double of my entire life. Felt like a train hit me, such a huge impact.”
Underneath the video, Chase wrote: “History was made! Chase Reinford (me) and Zach Steele were the first people ever to jump from the top of the Havasu Falls.”
