Lake Braies is one of the most beautiful lakes the world has to offer but not as many people know about it.

Located in the heart of the Dolomites in Italy, you’ll find the lake situated in the mountains.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike around the lake where you’ll be able to stop at a number of great viewpoints to soak up the scenery.

For those who want to see the lake from a boat, you can rent a rowboat and head out into the blue waters.

There are a range of boats you can take but in high season it can get a little busy meaning you might have to wait but with a view this good, it’s usually not a problem for most.

The alpine lake is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park.

You are not allowed to swim in the lake but can explore via boat or walking around. Entrance is free and boat rentals usually last around 45 minutes which is enough time to enjoy floating out on the lake.

To get there, it is easiest to drive. There are several car parks located close by which you can choose from - these are between 200-400 metres away from the lake.

Known as the ‘Pearl of the Dolomites’ the lake is a known beauty spot in the area and one visitors are continually in awe of. Due to its beauty, it has also been used as a filming location for an Italian TV show called Un Passo dal Cielo.
