If you're a fan of exploring cities on foot during your holidays, then Florence should be your next destination for an autumn break.

The capital city of Tuscany in Italy has been crowned the most walkable city globally, according to research by investment website insidermonkey.

Analysts used websites like Tourlane and WalkScore to map distances between top tourist attractions and analysed air quality to ensure visitors would enjoy fresh air while strolling around.

In Florence, all major attractions are within half a mile radius of each other, and the city centre can be explored on foot within two hours.

"Florence's walkability seeps through in its historic centre, where narrow lanes lead to landmarks like the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio," the report states.

Tripadvisor offers numerous walking tours for this incredibly historic city, with the Florence Sunset Food and Wine Tour with Eating Europe highly recommended.

Boasting a five-star reputation with nearly 2000 reviews, the tour offers an enticing journey through Florence's historic streets, teaching participants how to craft the city's iconic negroni cocktail while savouring an array of local specialities.

The tour spans a delectable three and a half hours, reports the Mirror
