On the first Sunday of each month, from March through November, Catherine Hill transforms into the Frome Independent, an award-winning destination street market.
This monthly mini-festival takes over the entire town, drawing thousands of visitors.
One user wrote on TripAdvisor: "Trendy, funky, full of the world’s lovely people stall’s atmosphere & generally the place to be on the first Sunday of the month."
A second user agreed and said: "Use ‘Park & Ride’! It cost us £2 (per car). We didn’t have to wait long before a free bus took down into the town centre. Lots ‘n’ lots to explore in the main centre, up & down the cobbly streets and in the big Cheese & Grain area. Lots of bars. Great music at the Buskers Stage. Love the whole market event and would totally recommend it!"
A third user said: "Best Sunday market we’ve been to in a long time, maybe ever. Something for everyone. A varied selection of food stalls offers something for every diet and taste. Live music. Second-hand stalls, handmade ceramic stalls, kick knacks, cheeses, honey, handcrafted goods, and even stalls just for the doggo. We spent a good few hours wandering and browsing. Eating the best Pastel De Nata we’ve had outside of Portugal and a monster burger cooked to perfection. We didn’t come to Frome just for the market but I totally would in the future."
