The beautiful European seaside city overlooked by tourists and 'perfect' for Easter break
The old centre of this city has been described as one of the "most picturesque places" on the whole island.
Chania, a city on the northwest coast of the popular Greek island of Crete, is often considered a good destination for a beach holiday.
However, an analysis by John Lewis Finance suggested this destination is also perfect for a short city escape over Easter, thanks to the myriad of top-rated free attractions it has to offer.
The analysis read: "Mostly known for being an amazing beach spot, Chania is a surprisingly good choice for a city break as well.
"The Old Town of Chania is one of the most picturesque places on the island and completely free to explore.
"Take a stroll during the day through the many alleys and the countless little shops. There are plenty of fish restaurants and taverns in case you get hungry."
Another major attraction free to visit in Chania is the Greek National Football Museum, ideal for football fans who want to look through memorabilia and artefacts linked to Greek football and get in the spirit of the upcoming UEFA Euro games to be hosted by Germany this summer.
One reviewer took to Trip Advisor to say what "an interesting museum" it is.
They said: "Amazing owner with so much knowledge who was most welcoming. "Lots of shirts, not just Greek, and many photos and videos."

Home to more than 88,000 people, this city also allows tourists to delve into the history of Crete, influenced over the centuries by Venetian, Egyptian and Ottoman cultures, thanks to the Folklore Museum of Chania.
Traces of Chania's past are visible also throughout the city, particularly at its Old Venetian Harbour and 16th-century lighthouse.
Those looking to let their hair down will not be disappointed in Chania, as the city has a bustling nightlife with plenty of bars and clubs open also during the low holiday season.
The surroundings of Chania are also a stunning sight - including Kissamos, a town lying some 25 miles west of the city with a calm beach and archaeological sites.
The wider Chania region is considered a paradise for hikers, with many trails leading to interesting sights and villages best to be visited during the spring or autumn.
