Lyon, France
Often thought of as France’s gourmet capital, Lyon is one of the country’s most underrated city breaks. Express.co.uk found return flights for under £50 from London and Liverpool.
Take a stroll through the city’s attractive Old Town and go for a meal at a bouchon before heading up the hill to admire Lyon from above.
The city could make a fantastic alternative to Paris which has hiked its tourist tax ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games.

Bydgoszcz
This pretty Polish city feels like stepping into the pages of a fairytale. Express.co.uk found return flights to the city in March for less than £50 from London, Birmingham and Bristol.
Bydgoszcz sits on the shores of Poland’s Vistula River and is known for its attractive waterfront and Art Nouveau buildings.
The city doesn’t have nearly as many tourists as Krakow but is just as pretty to explore during the spring.
