Europe's most beautiful city has been named as the UK's most searched for holiday destination.
Planning next year’s escape? A new study from the team at Forbes Advisor has found the UK’s most Googled holiday destinations.
According to the results, Rome is the most Googled holiday destination by British tourists with more than 42,000 searches a month.
British tourists were particularly keen on the Italian capital during the spring, with March, April and May recording the highest search volume.
It’s not hard to see why Rome was so popular as it was recently crowned Europe’s most beautiful city.
Amsterdam took second place in the ranking while the Greek island of Santorini was the third most in-demand destination.

The Dutch capital led search volume during autumn and winter while Majorca surged into the lead in summer.
While they didn’t make the top 10 list, Marseille in France and Gdansk in Poland saw the biggest increase in monthly searches.
Antalya, one of Turkey’s leading holiday destinations, saw the biggest fall in search volume with interest dropping by 20 percent over the last 12 months.

Laura Howard, travel insurance expert at Forbes Advisor, said: “Top city breaks such as Rome, Amsterdam and Paris are generating most search interest outside the summer months when temperatures over recent years have become unbearable for many.”
According to climate experts, summer heatwaves are likely to only become frequent in the coming years.
It is thought that destinations such as Scandinavia and Germany may become more popular as tourists seek to escape the heat.
