Google Maps Street View: Awkward situation for lorry driver caught on camera
GOOGLE MAPS Street View captured the awkward moment for a poor lorry driver in Missouri who was driving close to the Illinois border with his van while out on a delivery.
Google Maps Street View captured a very embarrassing moment for a lorry driver in the US state.
Spotted in Ste. Genevieve, close to the border of Illinois was the man stood next to a damaged van.
The entire back panel had been ripped off, exposing the inside of the truck.
What had happened was revealed further down the road.
The large lorry, however, failed to notice how low the bridge was until too late
On the same road was a low-lying bridge made of heavy steel.
Normal cars would be able to fit underneath it without any problem.
The large lorry, however, failed to notice how low the bridge was until too late.
Despite two signs stating the bridge was just nine feet tall, the lorry tried to drive underneath.
Many delivery lorries can be 10 to 11 feet, so it would not have been able to drive through easily.
The man appeared to be on the phone, no doubt calling a tow truck or repairman.
It isn’t made clear what happened to the delivery or to the driver for his mistake.
Drivers who hit bridges could face large fines as well as points on their license.
It could lead to the bridge being shut if the integrity of it is compromised and puts the road or railway line at risk.
The driver could also be forced to pay fees in fixing the bridge if severe damage is done.
A number of road accidents have been caught on Google Maps over the years.
One motorbike rider was caught trying to take a corner too fast in bad weather.
He quickly realised his mistake and slide across the ground, losing his bike from underneath.
A lorry in Mexico was spotted in a ditch following a road incident.
While a tow truck was present to help the lorry out of the ditch, what caused the accident has not been revealed.
